The Chippewa Flowage (located in Sawyer County, Wisconsin just west  of Hayward) is a 15,300 acre freshwater impoundment created in 1924.

Listed as the 3rd largest lake in the state, this northern Wisconsin waterbody is home to about 200 islands and over 230 miles of sparsely developed shoreline.

Also known as "Big Chip", the Chippewa Flowage is well known for its beautiful scenery of natural woods, flora and wildlife.  

With many islands, bays, channels and 'secret places', this northern Wisconsin lake provides some of the finest walleye fishing in the state.

In addition to walleye, anglers can experience fishing for panfish, bass, crappie and northern pike and of course, the "Big Chip" waters produced the world record musky.

The wilderness of the mostly undeveloped shoreline reminds one of a Canadian fly-in adventure - only closer to home and no passport needed! Several islands offer picnic tables and fire rings to provide a unique rustic camping experience.
